2 College Athletes Arrested for Beating Duck with Baseball Bat

Thomas 'Landon' Grant and Jacob Frye

Thomas 'Landon' Grant and Jacob Frye, both 19, students at Central Alabama Community College in Alexander City, Alabama were arrested and accused of animal cruelty after they pulled a white Muscovy duck from a pond to beat it with a baseball bat inside of an apartment after baseball gathering on May 5, 2019.

A coach went to investigate some noise he had heard in the woods nearby and found the animal inside of a bag, barely alive.

The duck had to be euthanized by a nearby vet.

Grant was arrested and held at Tallapoosa County Jail with a Class C felony charge on May 31 and posted $5,000 bond, while his partner, Frye turned himself in to Tallapoosa County Jail in Alexander City shortly after.
