Taylor Swift Donates $5,000 To Family Of Dead Fan Katie Beth Carter

Taylor Swift donated $5,000 to the family of Katie Beth Carter, a fan who died earlier this week. The singer made the contribution to Carter’s GoFundMe account.

A Jacksonville State University sophomore, Carter was traveling to the campus on Monday when she got in a car accident with a semi-truck in Alabama, with the tractor-trailer crashing into her vehicle. She was airlifted to a hospital in Georgia, where she died of her injuries. Carter was just 18 years old.

It’s unclear how Swift learned of the tragedy, but it apparently moved her enough to contribute for the family’s hospital and funeral expenses. In a comment on the GoFundMe page, the superstar wrote to Carter’s sister, “Kimi, No words could express how sorry I am for your loss. I know that you will keep Katie’s memory alive.”

“Please know how much I am thinking of you and saying a prayer for your family,” Swift went on, signing the message with, “All my love, Taylor.” Kimi posted a screenshot of Swift’s donation on Instagram, writing in the caption, “this…… I cannot believe this at all….. thank you so much, Taylor…. me and my sister are smiling so hard… @taylorswift.”

The day before Swift’s donation, Kimi wrote a tribute to her late sister on Instagram, mentioning how they would “sing Hamilton and Taylor Swift at the top of our lungs in the car.” The goal for the GoFundMe campaign was set at $30,000, a total that’s been surpassed in just two day’s time. With donations from more than 500 people, the total currently stands at nearly $34,000.
