Woman Spends $26,000 To Make Home Look Like It’s Straight From The 1950s

Emma Edwards became obsessed with the 1950s style back in the ’80s. While Emma is British, she became enamored with the American style of the era. The 47-year-old has spent the decades since then scouring thrift stores and charity shops for trinkets and items of yesteryear.

“I love the flamboyance of the era and the way it’s both glamorous but with kitsch and quirky touches,” Emma told Caters News.

She has spent $26,000 on transforming an ordinary home into a 1950s time capsule.

“It was an incredible transformation from a complete wreck to a mid-century tropical delight — we couldn’t have been more thrilled with the results,” she said.

The three-bedroom home is filled with 1950s fiberglass wall lights, a bamboo cocktail bar, and a ton of tchotchkes from the era.

While the home may look ordinary on the outside, it is quite special on the inside. However, the couple is selling it for around a half million dollars.

“Stepping into this property is like pressing play on a Gene Kelly film and stepping back in time to the ’50s,” said Gareth Yates, Purplebricks Local Property Expert in Manchester. “It has an amazing blend of style and functionality, with an eye for detail, and the kitchen really is a show stopper.”
