A popular Asian bakery is expanding in the San Diego area.

According to San Diego Eater, Sunmerry Bakery plans to open at least two outposts across the city.

The bakery was founded in Japan in the 1960s and established in Taiwan in 1986. They first expanded to the U.S. in 2015 and currently operate stores in California as well as New Jersey and New York.

The first San Diego location will be in Brixmor's Village at Mira Mesa complex at Mira Mesa Boulevard and Camino Ruiz. It's scheduled to open by March or April of 2022.

Another location is expected on Convoy Street in Kearny Mesa near the Costco Business Center. Sunmerry CEO Peter Kao told San Diego Eater that the company has already signed a lease for the second location.

Sunmerry's menu features over 80 varieties of Asian breads, pastries, and desserts like pineapple buns, green tea croissants, Portuguese egg tarts, ham and cheese danishes, and raisin rolls.

The bakery will also be serving whole cakes including Japanese jiggly cheesecake, mango mousse cake, and mocha walnut cake.

The cafe also features drinks like brown sugar boba milk and even salted cheese top coffee thanks to a partnership with Happy Lemon.
