New Rate Hike Approved For San Diego Water, Here's How Much More You'll Pay

The San Diego City Council has approved a 3% increase in water rates.

ABC 10 News says the City Council approved what they call a pass-through rate increase for their water that would go into effect at the start of the new year.

The city says it purchases roughly 90% of its water from the county's water authority, and every year, the authority increases rates due to maintenance, operations and water costs from metropolitan water districts.

Last year, the city voted to approve a 3% rate increase that took effect this year.
