Director Steven Spielberg revealed at the Empire Awards that Lucasfilm’s Indiana Jones 5 filming will begin filming in April 2019
The film is currently scheduled to be released in July 2020. So far, Harrison Ford is returning to the franchise to play his role as Dr. Indiana Jones. The screenplay is being written by David Koepp, who wrote Jurassic Park (1993), Stir of Echoes (1999) and Spider-Man (2002).
“It’s always worth the trip when I get to work with this deep bench of talent coming out of the UK. The actors, and the crew, the chippies, the sparks, the drivers — everybody who has helped me make my movies here, and will continue helping me make my movies here when I come back in April 2019 to make the fifth Indiana Jones movie right here,” says Steven Spielberg.
Unlike Harrison Ford's role as Han Solo in Star Wars, his character (spoiler alert) will NOT die off during the movie... leaving a chance for more Indiana Jones movies in the future. Disney CEO, Bob Iger, also said that Indiana Jones 5 will NOT be the last movie.
Past Indiana Jones movies have brought in $2 billion USD in box office sales.
