Kanye West Decided To Run For President While Showering

I still remember meeting him in Washington D.C. in 2013 and he talked about wanting to be a highly regarded fashion designer. He has such an infectious personality and a presence. I have always appreciated his honesty even when I didn't agree with so many strong views he has had or who he associated with.

Over the 4th of July weekend, Kanye West announced he would run for President in 2020 and many weren't sure he was being serious. This isn't the first time he declared this and after reading his FORBES interview...I am convinced Kanye is just being Kanye and he IS serious.

People are gravitating to what he says about Planned Parenthood, COVID-19 vaccines, and Trump, but I found myself being interested more when he mentioned he was in the SHOWER, and his mother in law called out to him, is when he decided to run for President.

“It’s when I was being offered the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Awards at MTV. I remember being at my mom’s house, my mother-in-law, because my house was being worked on, she calls me ‘son’ and I call her ‘mom,’ I was in the shower thinking, I write raps in the shower. It hit me to say, ‘you’re going to run for president’ and I started laughing hysterically, I was like this is the best, I'm going to go out there and they’re going to think I'm going to do these songs and do this for entertainment, how rigged awards shows are, and then say I’m president. And I just laughed in the shower, I don’t know for how long, but that’s the moment it hit me.”

I need to step it up in the shower. Singing isn't cutting it anymore. I need to aspire for greatness and take longer showers.

There are so many more points in his interview that I agree with what he is saying but I also find myself tilting my head in confusion at many points like when he talks about having COVID 19 and Drake (the singer/rapper) in the same sentence in a joking manner. It threw me a bit. He has a sense of humor that I can appreciate but also get lost in if that makes sense.

“Chills, shaking in the bed, taking hot showers, looking at videos telling me what I'm supposed to do to get over it. I remember someone had told me Drake had the coronavirus and my response was Drake can’t be sicker than me!” (laughs)
