Last year’s SDCCU Super Shred Event resulted in the collection of a total of 500,875 pounds of paper and saved 4,257 trees. SDCCU plans to break its own "most paper shredded in 8 hours" record this year at the next SDCCU Super Shred Event scheduled for June 15, 2019 at SDCCU Stadium.

SDCCU began hosting its free Shred Day events in 2007 and has since collected, shredded and recycled more than 4.1 million pounds of documents at no charge, saving over 34,000 trees (roughly 120 pounds shredded represents one saved tree). The events have also saved the community roughly $451,000 in costs associated with shredding documents.
