Managing stress and anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic

Dr. Mike Moreno, a primary care physician for Kaiser Permanente San Diego has an important message about ways to manage stress and anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During this difficult time, taking care of yourself is essential for stress management and your overall health.

  1. Unplug. Take breaks from watching, reading or listening to news stories, including social media. Constant monitoring can be upsetting and increase the amount of anxiety you feel
  2. Take Care of Your Body. Take deep breaths and stretch several times a day. Try to eat healthy and balanced meals and avoid alcohol and drugs. Stay active. Even a few10-minute walks in your neighborhood can have a tremendous positive impact on your mental health.
  3. Connect with Others. Social distancing does not mean cutting yourself off from people you care about and trust. Schedule a phone call with a friend or family member to talk about how you are feeling.
