San Diego Is A 'Top 10 Digital City,' Here's What That Means

San Diego has been named one of the top "digital friendly" cities in America, according to a new report by the Center for Digital Government (CDG).

The 2021 Digital Cities Survey recognized cities that use technology to tackle social challenges, enhance cybersecurity, improve transparency, and more.

San Diego tied with Los Angeles for second place in 2021, with another California city, San Jose topping the list.

“There is nothing better than being able to use innovation and technology to create more opportunities for the people we proudly serve,” Jonathan Behnke, San Diego's Chief Information Officer told KGTV. "There are now more ways to get connected than ever before with a major expansion of public Wi-Fi and hundreds of new devices available to check out from libraries."

Here are the top ten cities that made the list:

  1. San Jose
  2. San Diego/Los Angeles
  3. San Francisco
  4. Charlotte, NC
  5. Mesa, AZ
  6. Albuquerque, NM
  7. Phoenix, AZ
  8. Louisville, KY
  9. Las Vegas, NV
  10. El Paso, TX

According to KGTV, the CDG will hold a virtual ceremony to honor the city's digital accomplishments on Wednesday, December 8, which will be open to the public.
