10 Jaw-Dropping Surprises From FireAid

As Los Angeles is still reeling from the devastating wildfires that has taken so much from so many, but some of music's biggest stars came together to help raise funds for relief during FireAid.

The mega concert took place in two locations — the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum — and featured some of the most unforgettable moments and surprise collaborations in music history. Performing at the Intuit Dome were Billie Eilish, Earth, Wind & Fire, Gracie Abrams, Jelly Roll, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lil Baby, Olivia Rodrigo, Peso Pluma, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder, Sting and Tate McRae. And taking the stage at the Kia Forum are Alanis Morissette, Anderson .Paak, Dave Matthews & John Mayer, Dawes, Graham Nash, Green Day, John Fogerty, Joni Mitchell, No Doubt, P!NK, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stephen Stills, Stevie Nicks and The Black Crowes.

As per the FireAid website, "Contributions made to FireAid in connection with the FireAid benefit concert and other direct donations will be distributed under the advisement of the Annenberg Foundation and will be distributed for short-term relief efforts and long-term initiatives to prevent future fire disasters throughout Southern California." Donations can be made on the FireAid website.

Remaining Nirvana members reunited with special guests

Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, bassist Krist Novoselic, rhythm guitarist Pat Smear reunited with a rotating lineup of singers to perform several songs by the band, with St. Vincent joining to perform Nevermind's "Breed," Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon taking the stage to sing Bleach's "School," and Joan Jett performing Nevermind's "Territorial Pissings." Then, Grohl's daughter Violet joined her father and his bandmates to perform "All Apologies" from In Utero.

No Doubt reunited as Gwen Stefani sang "I'm Just A Girl ... in LA!"

Gwen Stefani was joined by No Doubt to perform several of their fan-favorite songs, including "Don't Speak," "Spiderwebs" and "I'm Just A Girl."

Lady Gaga debuted a new song she wrote with her fiancé Michael Polansky

Before performing her new song, "Time Is A Healer," Lady G shared, "I thought I wanted to do something hopeful for you. And I was thinking about my songs and there wasn’t anything that seemed quite right. So me and my friend Michael — my fiancé, my love — we wrote this song for you. It’s just for tonight. It’s just for you. I think we all need a lot of things right now, but I think something we may also need is time. Time is a healer."

Green Day surprised the crowd with Billie Eilish to perform "Last Night On Earth"

Fans were shocked when Green Day brought out Billie Eilish to help them perform the iconic rock band's song from 2009's 21st Century Breakdown.

P!NK covered Janis Joplin and Led Zeppelin

P!NK has an impressive catalogue of hits, which she performed during FireAid including "What About Us," but she also treated fans to a cover of Janis Joplin's "Me & Bobby McGee, as well as a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You."

Stevie Nicks dedicated "Landslide" to firefighters who saved her home

During her performance she told the crowd, as per NBC Los Angeles, “Knowing that I was a full-on Pacific Palisadean woman with an old, beautiful, famous house that was almost taken from me as the fire came up the hill behind my house. And I was pretty sure, as they whisked me away and evacuated me — my least favorite word now — to another safe place, that when I turned around and looked my house would be up in flames."

Jelly Roll surprised fans with blink 182's Travis Barker to perform a Bob Seger classic

Jelly Roll kicked off his FireAid set with his song "I Am Not Okay" from his 2024 album Beautifully Broken, and then soon after, he surprised fans by bringing out Travis Barker to perform Bob Seger's "Hollywood Nights" — a tribute to LA.

Anderson .Paak brings out two legendary artists for an epic performance

Keeping along with the theme of unbelievable surprise performances and collaborations, Anderson .Paak surprised fans with Sheila E. and Dr. Dre, the latter of who helped .Paak perform "California Love" and "Still Dre."

Katy Perry Performed "Rise" with the Pasadena Chorale

Katy Perry performed a moving rendition of "Rise" with the Pasadena Chorale to kick off her FireAid performance, before moving on to an iconic track of hers, "California Gurls," while waving that California flag on stage

U2 Donated $1M to FireAid

The whole point of FireAid, the main reason why so many artists got together for this epic concert, was to raise funds for those affected by the horrific LA fires, and U2 got the night started with an amazing donation. Starting off the event, Billy Crystal (who lost his home in the fires), joked with the crowd, "Our goal is simple tonight, to spend more money than the Dodgers' spent on free agents," per The Irish Star. He then shared with the audience that U2 had donated $1M for relief efforts.
