Superman and Christopher Reeves impersonator, Christopher Dennis, AKA Hollywood Boulevard Superman, passed away at the age of 52 on November 2nd, 2019.
Christopher Lloyd Dennis, born on June 16, 1967, was put up for adoption by his father at the age of 6-years-old and spent most of his childhood in shelters and group homes. When he turned 18, he went to Hollywood in hopes of becoming an actor. Like many, Christopher worked at restaurants and waited tables. He was told by many of his patrons that he really looked like Christopher Reeves AKA Superman.
In hopes of getting discovered as an actor, Christopher hit the Hollywood Boulevard in a Superman costume to get the attention of studio producers and posed with and brought smiles to millions of tourists for over 25 years and was a staple to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
He was featured on several episodes of the Jimmy Kimmel Show and even a 30 Seconds to Mars music video for 'City of Angels'. Christopher's widow and long-time collaborator, Bonnie Finkenthal Dennis, worked with Christopher on a documentary called "American Superman" about his life.
In the last few years of his life, Christopher was homeless on and off and would often frequent shelters and stay with family and friends.
Friends and family of the Hollywood Boulevard Superman are hoping to raise enough money in order for Christopher Dennis to have a proper funeral, final resting place, and a memorial plaque at the famous Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
