Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards has ordered a statewide lockdown after saying that his state has the 'fastest-growing cases of coronavirus in the world'

Edwards believes his state has had the highest initial growth rate of confirmed coronavirus cases when compared to other cities around the world in about 2 weeks according to a study from University of Louisiana at Lafayette. To date, the state has had over 35 deaths and 1,172 confirmed cases.

As for total coronavirus cases per capita, New York and Washington lead the list with Louisiana currently in 3rd place with 1,172 confirmed coronavirus cases. If Louisiana doesn't get control of this, they could easily have what happened in Italy and Spain in their state.

Edwards has called for a mandatory stay at home order for his 4.6 million state residents in order to help flatten the coronavirus curve.
