  • Provided educational materials and equipment to nearly 900 classrooms across the San Diego area
  • Funded more than 100 Community programs and initiatives

NFAR TECH: The current unemployment rate for those with autism is 85%, higher than for any other disability. Many young adults with autism have the abilities needed to be successful in the tech industry, however, they generally lack experience and are not easily finding first opportunities. Unique to San Diego, NFAR Tech provides training for young adults with autism and works to create and secure employment for their graduates, creating a more inclusive San Diego. NFAR Tech combines hands-on training with real life applications, as well as internship hours, all helping build expertise that lead to careers in software testing, and other technical professions. Since it started in 2015, NFAR Tech has a 96% employment rate after graduation and 93% of graduates are still currently working. It’s been a win-win situation for the San Diego tech industry, as many employers find that NFAR Tech graduates bring new perspectives, high attention to detail, and logical thinking patterns to their projects and offices.

NFAR WORKS: The new NFAR Works is a comprehensive vocational training program for young adults with autism and related disabilities designed to provide participants with skill sets needed for entry level positions in office environments and light manufacturing. The first cohort of NFAR Works students will graduate in June 2020.
