San Felipe or Bust!

Dear Diary,

It's Monday and I feel like I am about to split my pants. I must have eaten my way through Mexico this weekend. Well, I actually did! How can you deny fresh tamales on the street corner and a hot and ready bag of churros? Heavenly.

Antonio Marco Juan Banderas, as Erik and I call him, took me in his rough and ready truck. We had road snacks and lots of Red Bull and partial air-conditioning, but that's ok because we made it to paradise in 4 hours. It was actually raining when we left San Diego and then we arrived this is what we saw.

(I realize that I am showing pictures of Antonio Marco Juan Banderes but I'd still rather not use his name. He says he's cool with it, but ya never know.)

All I wished for was warm water and that is exactly what we found in San Felipe. I haven't been there since college 100 years ago. I remember it being a lot less populated. The "resort" we stayed at was really great. I mean it was right on that white sand, it had a pool and a spa and a delicious restaurant. I tried to get some artsy photos.

This is my favorite pic of the whole trip, I think.

The first full day we went swimming, then we went into town for awhile. I know I haven't know AMJB very long but I felt comfortable with him. I think I'm a good judge of character. He is very neat and tidy. He unpacked all his stuff including our snacks right away. The snacks were even angled in the same direction. He must have been having a slight panic attack looking over at my side of the room.

Here are some pics of day two in town.

creepy boatyard

Look at this creepy, but kind of artsy, dead boat yard. It fascinated me! Then we hiked to the end of the world!

Queen of the world

We hiked to the lighthouse and to a cave where a man actually lives full-time!

That night we went out downtown. We got dressed up via San Felipe standards and ended up meeting some cool people at some dive-bars.

I was fine with my bottles of Mexican Cola. AMJB drank beer which is his thing. I had no problem with it whatsoever. I want people to be who they are around me. I don't like it when people refuse to drink because I don't. It makes me feel uncomfortable. So he made me feel REALLY comfortable haha.

new friends

That's Judd. He lives down there now. Coolest guy ever. This other guy was super drunk but he kept complimenting me so I loved him. He obviously had beer goggles on haha.

The next day we just floated around on inter tubes , went souvenir shopping and drove home. It was a great trip all around. AMJB is a really great person. He was a fun travel partner.

Oh I have to tell you the cutest story about these sweet women. They had a 37 year San Felipe reunion. To commemorate the event, they recreated a photo they took 37 years ago. They asked us to take it. I loved this so much!

See you later, Diary! Oh here's a final picture and a Katy Perry video called Small Talk that I love.
