Dr. Mike Moreno, a primary care physician for Kaiser Permanente San Diego has an important message about ways to manage stress and anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During this difficult time, taking care of yourself is essential for stress management and your overall health.
- Unplug. Take breaks from watching, reading or listening to news stories, including social media. Constant monitoring can be upsetting and increase the amount of anxiety you feel
- Take Care of Your Body. Take deep breaths and stretch several times a day. Try to eat healthy and balanced meals and avoid alcohol and drugs. Stay active. Even a few10-minute walks in your neighborhood can have a tremendous positive impact on your mental health.
- Connect with Others. Social distancing does not mean cutting yourself off from people you care about and trust. Schedule a phone call with a friend or family member to talk about how you are feeling.
