Malacandra is a 2-1/2- year old, 61 pound, female, Husky mix.

She was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society from a crowded rescue partner in Orange County through Friends of County Animal Shelters.

She’s very friendly. She gets excited and “talks” when she meets new people. That’s common for Huskies.

Malacandra may do best with a family that is familiar with the breed or wants to learn more about Huskies.

She needs both mental and physical stimulation. She may do best in a home with a yard, but it’s not required if her adopters are committed to taking her out for exercise.

If she has something and you want it, you need to "trade up." Give her something just as good, or better. It shows that people are “givers,” and not just “takers.”

The $145 adoption fee for Malacandra Includes medical exam, spay / neuter, up to date vaccinations, registered microchip, and a one-year license if the new home is in the jurisdiction of SD Humane Society.

Kennels are open from 11 AM to 4 PM Thursday through Monday and Wednesday by appointment.

During November “Adopt a Senior Pet Month” Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas is encouraging families to meet older cats and dogs available for adoption. There are lots of advantages to adopting a senior pet:

·You know what you’re getting.

·Unlike kittens or puppies, it’s not a 24-7 job to adopt a senior pet.

·Senior pets usually settle into their new homes more quickly.

·You can match a senior pet with your activity level.

·If you are 60 or older and you adopt a senior pet 7 years or older, the adoption fee will be paid by a generous Rancho Coastal Humane Society benefactor.
