Egg Prices Skyrocket Right Before Easter

Your Easter egg hunt or Passover Seder might cost a bit more.

Egg prices are rising this year as a result of an outbreak of the bird flu called H5N1 avian influenza A. The virus has been detected in 24 states according to USA Today.

Since infected and exposed birds are destroyed, that leaves fewer egg-laying hens.

Egg prices are normally higher this time of year because of increased demand. With the shortage of hens supplying eggs, the cost is 44 percent higher than this time last year!
