SeaWorld To Reopen Roller Coasters & Thrill Rides

SeaWorld San Diego announced its plans to reopen roller coasters and thrill rides to the public starting Monday, April 12, reports KGTV.

Although the park has been open to guests, rides have remained closed due to California's reopening guidelines for theme parks.

Under the COVID-19 restrictions, SeaWorld has been able to operate as a zoo and aquarium.

"We’re delighted to bring back some of the best thrill and family rides that San Diego has to offer. Our guests have been eager for SeaWorld to re-open rides, and we are looking forward to providing these exciting experiences to our guests," said park president Marilyn Hannes. "Safety is our number one priority, and as we’ve been fortunate to already be open and operating as a zoo, we’ve already implemented significant safety enhancements for our guests."

According to the guidelines for theme parks, counties in the red tier can reopen theme parks with limited capacity and certain modifications.

San Diego is currently in the orange tier in California's reopening plan.

In the orange tier theme parks are allowed to operate at 25% capacity and an indoor capacity of 25% with time restrictions for guests.

For roller coasters and other rides, riders who are not part of the same group must be spaced out.

Guests will be asked to wear masks inside the park and are also required to go through a temperature screening before entering.
