This California City Is Now The “Happiest” Place In America

San Diego has been named the 15th happiest city in the country, and two other cities in San Diego County have been ranked in the top 40.

Fox 5 San Diego says a new report from WalletHub analyzed 30 happiness-related data metrics which were grouped into three categories: emotional and physical well-being, income and employment, and community and environment.

A total of 182 U.S. cities were given scores on a 100-point scale.

The City of San Diego came in as the 15th happiest city, with 63.98 points, Chula Vista was 25th at 61.90 and Oceanside was ranked 36th with 60.23 points.

Fremont, a city in the Bay Area, was named the "happiest" city in the nation with 76.10 points.

“Where you live makes a difference, to be sure, although where you live probably is not as big a factor as personal and family influences on any one person’s happiness.” Dr. Sherry Hamby, distinguished research professor of psychology at the University of the South, said in a statement.

“Places with more resources–whether these are natural resources like beaches and mountains, cultural resources like museums and theaters, or essential resources like health care and transportation–tend to have happier people than other places.”
