Stephen Colbert Reveals $1M donation

Stephen Colbert started a viral movement last Wednesday when guest Nick Kroll encouraged fellow stars to tweet pictures of themselves during their "awkward phase" with the hashtag #PuberMe and #PuertoRicoRelief to benefit the victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico with a $1,000 donation for each photo posted.

Now, just a week later, Colbert has announced that the viral sensation has raised $1 million for Puerto Rico relief. Over 200 photos of stars in their teenage years were posted, with participants from Bill Clinton to Reese Witherspoon to Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The Late Show host revealed the total amount of money raised for OneAmericaAppeal.org on Thursday's show.

Kroll called into the show to donate $100,000, which he joked he earned from his selling "not that healthy" liver on the dark web and all those who worked on his Netflix show, Big Mouth.

CBS and Colbert's Americone Dream Fund (which donates the funds raised by Colbert's Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavor) also promised massive donations, which Kroll matched, bring the total to $999,000. Luckily, Lin-Manuel Miranda made a surprise appearance to bump the total over the $1 million mark and promote his new song "Almost Like Praying" with Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Fat Joe and more.

Of course, Miranda couldn't get away with showing off his awkward phase — in the form of a music video. The young Miranda was seen singing about a recent trip to Puerto Rico. "I'm really making up a song about Puerto Rico," Miranda said of the video. "And my nose was desperately trying to keep up with my face."
