Dear Diary,
Just 3 more days of this year left...not that I'm counting. We all know what a crap sandwich the year has been with Covid and all that. Instead of reviewing and reliving the bad parts, I'm going to focus on the good stuff from the last few weeks. First, I need to let you know that writing this Diary is taking every last morsel of energy I have left in me this morning. I am not entirely focused so reading this might make you dizzy. haha
I am tired. So very tired. Tired, tired, tired. I wish I could sleep for one full day; no interruptions, no responsibilities, no plans, no work. Ahhh. How glorious that would be. But, alas, that won't be happening anytime soon. It's all good, though. I'm working extra hours so I shouldn't complain at all. I've been uber busy with work and my side hustles (selling stuff on Offer-Up and things like that.) I made a lot of bracelets this month...like 100 or so...for all sorts of people. Half of that money I used to buy tons of groceries for the girls we helped with Operation Group Home. That rewarding event happened on Christmas Eve.
We delivered everything you can imagine to 12 girls in homes in Oceanside and El Cajon. I'm not sure if I can post the picture of the livingrooms packed with gifts, so I won't. Imagine your living room so packed full of stuff you can't move around or see the carpet. That's what it looked like. Wow. Linda sure made it incredible for the girls this year. She is the one who created Operation Group Home 10 years ago for girls who have no home and no parents to take care of them. We talked to a girl who used to live in one on my podcast last week. I'll put a link at the bottom of this page.
I can post the pic of us outside one of the homes at 2:45 in the morning. Don't yell at me for no mask. I was wearing it but took it off for pictures.
Before we left on that adventure, Antonio and I spent Christmas Eve with his mom and dad. Oh, how I love them. His mom cooked the best dinner and gave us the best gifts. (a set of remote control candles and patches for my jacket!!)
Elvis came too. He was being a little bratty so we stuck him in the Christmas sweater. He mellowed out and then was just plain depressed as you can see from the pics. haha
I talked to my boy on Christmas Eve, too. He comes home in January to celebrate his 21st birthday!!!
Yesterday, Evan and I celebrated Christmas with my mom, sis, and niece in Rancho Cucamonga.
Look at my mom rocking the Laura Cain After Dark podcast merch. haha. That's what she wanted for Christmas!
She turned 80 years old on the 22nd. 80!! How did that happen? How does she look so insanely young for 80 years old. I just hope I got those genes.
So the positives from 2020:
My mom turning 80 and Elvis. I can't really think of anything else. haha
Oh, look what Antonio got me for Christmas!!! A sweet little table for me to sit and drink my coffee at while I watch Elvis play!
Again, my focus is not there today and I'm having trouble making decisions. I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling this way.
I could go on and make a profound statement about how 2021 will be the best year ever, how Evan will be going back to school, how Charlie will be going back to campus, how I will be going back into work, but I'm not. Let's just say I am full of hope, as always, and I will make the best of what comes my way. No real resolutions other than my Red Bull consumption will end. Is that bad? Not having any resolutions? I will finally clean out my closets in 2021..how about that?
On that note, 2020 can kiss my behind.
See you next year, Diary. Thank you for reading and I am sending love and positive vibes your way. I am grateful for you, too.
