A funeral procession Tuesday for La Mesa Police Officer Lauren Craven with hundreds of law enforcement officers taking part started at Snapdragon Stadium and ended at Skyline Church in Rancho San Diego with a memorial service.
The 25 year old officer was struck by a car on Interstate 8 as she was helping a driver whose car had overturned in a crash near College Avenue on October 20. Both the officer and the young man she had come to the aid of were killed.
The funeral procession for Officer Craven included more than 700 vehicles. The procession went from the 15 to the 52 to the 125 and then to the 94 to where the church is located along Jamacha Boulevard.
The La Mesa Police Department said drivers should expect road closures and major traffic delays throughout Tuesday morning on the following highways:
- Northbound Interstate 15
- Eastbound State Route 52
- Southbound State Route 125
- Eastbound State Route 94
- Eastbound Campo Road
- The procession ends at Skyline Church at 11330 Campo Road
- Access to SR-94 and SR-125 from Spring Street in La Mesa will be closed during the procession.
