Beachgoers Formed a Human Chain to Rescue Swimmers Caught in Rip Current
Beachgoers in Grand Haven State Park in Grand Haven, Michigan (near the eastern shore of Lake Michigan), worked together on Sunday (8/5/2018) around noon by forming a human chain to rescue swimmers who were caught in strong rip currents that resulted in 3 injuries and 2 deaths.
A 20-year-old man from Lansing, Michigan, was missing in the currents. The man was eventually found about 5 feet underwater and was pronounced dead at North Ottawa Community Hospital. A 2nd man, 64-year-old David Knaffle of Wyoming, Michigan, also died in the currents yesterday.
