According to the American Cancer Society, more than 1.7 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed this year alone. We dream of changing that statistic.
Join us in creating a world without cancer by participating in the sixth annual Padres Pedal the Cause on November 17 at Petco Park. There are lots of ways to participate and get involved, so whether you’re an experienced cyclist or living thousands of miles away, you can still join our mission to end cancer. Here are six ways to get involved and raise money for life-saving cancer research.
1. Ride
We have four cycling courses available to help riders of every ability pedal for a cure for cancer. Each course rides over the iconic Coronado Bridge and starts and finishes on centerfield at Petco Park. Whether you want to enjoy a 25-mile ride or feel ready to challenge yourself with a rewarding 100-mile course, you can ride with a supportive group, all riding for one reason—to end cancer!
2. Spin
You don’t have to put in the miles to make a significant impact. Join us for any (or all!) of our themed 50-minute stationary cycling sessions led by teachers from local studios. Enjoy great music and tons of energy on the field at Petco Park while raising money for cancer research.
3. 5K Run/Walk
This family-friendly, all-ages 5K is a brand-new way to participate and raise funds this year. Participants of all ages can choose their speed, walking or running the Padres Pedal 5K as an individual, a family or a team. Finish on the Petco Park field where you’ll join a stadium full of cancer fighters.
4. Volunteer
Join our mission to end cancer by becoming a volunteer at this year’s event. Our volunteers help make every event a success and help facilitate, encourage and bring heart and soul to every Padres Pedal event.
5. Become a Virtual Rider
If you’re unable to ride or be in San Diego for our event, you can join us a Virtual Rider! You can help us fundraise from the comfort of your home. All you have to do is sign up individually or as part of a team and become a part of the cancer-fighting team.
6. Superhero Kids Challenge presented by Sempra Energy
Kids from ages 3 to 12 can take part in our Kids Challenge on an enclosed youth track at Petco Park. Scooters, training wheels and capes are all welcome as kids bring energy and heart to their superhero efforts. Kids aren’t required to fundraise but are encouraged to do so if so inspired.
Whether you choose to walk, ride, volunteer or fundraise as a virtual rider, we welcome you to join us for one day to end cancer. Every dollar you raise goes directly to life-saving cancer research conducted by our world-renowned beneficiaries in the San Diego area. Your participation helps ensure that these innovative research projects can continue to find ways to prevent and treat cancer. With your help, we can create a world without cancer.
