Mitzvah is a 1-1/2-year-old, 58-pound, female, Cattledog mix.
She was part of a group of puppies who were surrendered to a crowded shelter. When she wasn’t adopted, she was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through Friends of County Animal Shelters (FOCAS).
Mitzvah is a lovable, soft-hearted soul who needs a quiet home where she can feel safe. Her new owners will need to give her time to develop trust at her own pace.
The $145 adoption fee for Mitzvah includes medical exam, spay, up to date vaccinations, registered microchip, and a one-year license if her new home is in the jurisdiction of San Diego Humane Society.

Every Day is Adopt a Shelter Pet Day at Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS.) But, if you need a specific date to observe and celebrate, it’s April 30th.
Visit RCHS or a shelter near you to meet a wide variety of breeds, sizes, and ages of pets. Find the pet whose personality and lifestyle match yours.
Meet the seniors. Senior pets are frequently overlooked in favor of puppies and kittens.
Be prepared. You’ll need a collar, leash, ID tags, toys, water and food bowls, and food.
Determine which family members will be responsibility for each of your pet’s needs. Who will walk your dog? Who will empty the cat’s litter box?
If you already have a pet, ask the adoption counselor how to introduce the new pet. Remember that owning a pet is a lifetime commitment. Tell the adoption counselors about yourself, then let them introduce you to pets that match you!
