A battle over land use is coming to a head in East County. Protestors plan to pack the room as the San Diego County Board of Supervisors votes on a controversial sand mine in El Cajon Wednesday.
The company has applied for a permit to remove sand from the old Cottonwood golf course over a ten year period.
However, a number of people in several surrounding neighborhoods oppose the plan, saying it will cause congestion and pollute the air.
A spokesperson with the organization Stop Cottonwood Sand Mine tells KOGO news, because of environmental regulations, he hopes the entire board will vote no on the project.
