I Met Someone...

Dear Diary,

This has been a crazy couple of weeks. In the midst of it all, I met someone in the most random of circumstances. I'm just going to put it out there because I share everything with you and because I honestly believe this may stick for a while. His name is Alfie. I met him at a live broadcast we were doing for my podcast. We were told at the last minute that we'd be interviewing the chef from the restaurant we were in. Oh great, I thought. We don't even know this person and now we have to interview him? Then, I saw him. Ok, I'm not even kind of joking when I say I felt sparks. Like, sparks were flying when we locked eyes. He was just so handsome. Evan was with me. We had to walk back to the car to get something and she said to me "Well, that is a beautiful man." Indeed he is, I said.

Here's the live broadcast of the podcast. It's hella awkward because I was just so shell-shocked by his presence. This doesn't happen to me! And, this makes Erik sweat up a storm. It's really funny.

After the podcast, we took some pictures so of course, I had to ask for his phone number to send them to him. Here's the best pic

He texted me later that night "I meant it when I said let's hang out." Omg. I died. Our first date was on May 4, just days later. It was a proper date, too. He drove to my house, walked to the door, and knocked. Evan answered while I took my time gliding down the stairs. Elvis didn't even bark at him. A sign! We went to a small Italian restaurant in North Park where we ate delicious food and talked for hours. He then drove me home, walked me to the door, and gave me a quick peck on the lips. He moves slow and I am loving it. Here's the pic from date #1

We took that picture at the table because Evan texted me "Mom, are you alive? Send me a picture of where you are right now!" haha.

Our second date was the following Tuesday at my house. Evan was there, too. We walked up to grab some Chinese Food, took it home, and ate on the patio with the fire going. We just talked and talked til it was getting late. Here's the pic from that night.

Then on Friday, we went to Beaumont's in Bird Rock to see Cash'D Out play an intimate show. What a blast we had. Again, talking and talking til I was hoarse. Still nothing but a peck, maybe a deeper peck this time.

And, then, last night I went to his place where I made him watch 90 Day Fiance with me. What a good sport he is! I was there for 5 and a half hours...just talking and kind of watching TV. He walked me to the car and gave me the best hug. I gotta tell you, I am really digging how slow this is going. It's awesome! Think about when we actually do kiss properly...it's going to be like fireworks shooting off.

Alfie is 12 years younger than me. He has not one issue with it. I'm the one who's a little weird about it. Will I always feel old when I'm with him? I mean, I don't feel any kind of way right now, but will that change? Who knows!? I'm just going with the flow right now.

The other big news? This is Evan's final full week of high school. I am on the verge of tears every time I think about it. She graduates soon and then goes off to college. Those three months will fly by. Charlie graduates from college the weekend of June 11th! Ev and I are flying up there for a few days where we will be staying in his tiny apartment with his girlfriend, blow up bed and everything. We can't even wait! But in September I will be an empty-nester. I'm not going to be good with this at all. I'm dreading it, in fact.

Oh, Evan is one of ten girls (10 boys, too) who were chosen by Broadway San Diego to perform and compete on May 29th. The top two go to the Jimmy Awards in NYC to compete on the national level. A lot of these Jimmy Awards winners end up on Broadway. This is so exciting! Here's the flyer.

Gonna meet Alfie at the dog park today at 1 pm. I feel like we may become inseparable and that is not like me at all.

What is happening? Ahhh!

See you later, Diary.
